PILOTS' VISION

Pilots experience very unique vision demands with focusing and clear vision being of primary importance. Certainly the need for clear vision is obvious, but what about focusing?

Under conditions of low contrast, such as the featureless blue sky at high altitudes, the pilot's eyes tend to focus-in at about one yard in front of them. This creates a colossal hazard because the pilot cannot see anything clearly in the distant skies.

Based upon earlier reports by NASA scientist, Robert Randle, The Accommotrac ® Vision Trainer teaches voluntary control of focusing, so under conditions of low contrast, a pilot can maintain clear vision at all distances.

As stated in Flight Training, August, 1992:

The weekly training sessions usually last one hour. How many sessions are needed depends on the type and extent of the vision problem... highly motivated patients that have started with 20/400 vision end up with 20/40... Although not everyone reaches a perfect 20/20, 90 percent notice a marked vision improvement...Results of the training are long-term, with the average person possibly needing a follow-up session in anywhere from six months to two years.

VISION AND COMPUTERS

As you are reading from our WebSite or using a computer in general, you may notice some blurring or eyestrain or loss of concentration. In most cases, this is from stress on the focusing muscle. We know of no better way to train the focusing muscle than with The Accommotrac ® Vision Trainer. Our experience has shown that the earlier the problems are noticed, the more successful is the training program.
